Sue's collectables was founded in Knaresborough (Harrogate) which sold second hand furniture, antiques & household items.
Knaresborough was relocated to Skipton (North Yorkshire) to a bigger premises.
Skipton was doing very well so a new lease was taken on Manor Square, Otley, Leeds
Manor Square was ran by Chris's family (who now have a small store in Filey)
Chris then took over the store in Otley. The shop in Skipton was still ran by Chris's family.
Due to Chris's family taking semi retirement the lease was sold on the Skipton store.
Chris took the big decision to have a full rebrand and re-fit the store in Otley.
The name 'For The Home' was created. Chris vowed to run a business where if a problem occurred he would try his upmost to resolve any problems. And most of his products were at a cost that most people could afford.
Chris met his fiancé Charlotte, who soon ventured within the business.
We got approached by another shop keeper from Otley called Joe, after a long discussion Chris and Charlotte decided to merge together with Joe and try a new approach to the store, by selling clearance sofas. Within 2 months we knew we had made the right decision. Business was blossoming! We decided to then open a warehouse unit in Yeadon and within 2 months we grew out of that.
We decided to take on another lease in Otley with the shop next door to the current shop. As well as keeping the warehouse. The business was continuously thriving and we were really running out of space.
After more months had passed & the business was still thriving we where eager to explore new avenues and develop the company further, with a variety of new products and collections.
We decided now it was time to take a big leap and no more baby steps as we were constantly growing out off places. We opened a big warehouse unit in Pudsey and got rid of the Yeadon warehouse. We soon filled the Pudsey warehouse and within 6 month of being there we had a mezzanine floor installed.
From the very start, our dream was always to be a high street store, this finally came true during the very 1st lockdown in March 2020! We were approached by a letting agent to rent the biggest premises in Otley!
We were so proud of ourselves and could not wait to move in. We had our grand re opening on August the 9th, where we were truly overwhelmed by all your support, it was the craziest weekend!
The new store has been the best decision we could of ever made. It has flourished ever since. We have also taken on lots of new staff from 2020-2021 and we now have a big team which work fabulously together.
We wouldn't be where we are today without the support from our customers, THANK YOU!
